About Les Tilleuls

Situated on the edge of a small rural hamlet on a hillside overlooking the Auvézère valley and surrounded by woods and meadows are two gîtes, tastefully converted from a long stone barn, set well back from the quiet lane. They make the perfect location for those in search of peace and quiet, but they also provide an ideal location for visiting the many attractions of the region.

 

Step out from your cottage and  enjoy a walk in  the lovely countryside without going near a main road.  The surrounding area consists of lush meadows and woodland interspersed with walnut orchards. A paradise for anyone interested in bird watching and wildlife in general. With no light pollution the night skies are stunning.

 

Each gîte has its own private garden area with barbecue and patio furniture. Inside they are characterised by beamed ceilings, cottage style bedrooms and enjoy comfortable living rooms and well-equipped kitchens.

 

The two gîtes share the rest of the garden and the 13 x 5m fenced swimming pool, ideally positioned to enjoy the sun throughout the day and provided with parasols and plenty of sun-loungers for all. The pool, loungers and surround are cleaned daily (early in the morning and hopefully before anyone is up and about).  Flowering shrubs and plants around the pool encourage a large variety of butterflies. For the energetic there is outdoor table-tennis. Set under a large walnut tree reclining chairs and a bistro table offer the perfect shady spot to relax and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine.

 

Although in a truly rural location Les Tilleuls is only a mile from the pretty village of Tourtoirac with its bar, bakery (great pastries!), butcher and general store. Hautefort with its magnificent chateau is only 4 miles away. En route to Hautefort is a large Intermarché supermarket.
